The nominations have been revealed for this year’s TV BAFTAS and there is a flurry of Irish names on the ballot.
Antrim native James Nesbitt has been nominated in the Leading Actor category for his performance in the BBC One series The Missing.
The Irish actor will face stiff competition from Oscar-nominated Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) for the coveted role.

Meanwhile, Belfast actor Stephen Rea has been nominated for a supporting actor award and Roscommon’s Chris O’Dowd’s Moone Boy has been nominated for Best Scripted Comedy Award.
Irish comedian Brendan O’Carroll is up for Male Performance In A Comedy Programme for his Mrs Brown’s Boys Christmas special.
Also in the running is TV presenter Graham Norton who has been nominated for Entertainment Performance for The Graham Norton Show.

However,  there is one considerable BBC hit show missing from the awards line-up, The Fall.
Thought to have been a shoe in for this year’s Best Actor nominations, Jamie Dornan’s name is noticeably missing from the category.
Not only was the Fifty Shades of Grey actor snubbed by the British academy, the BBC show itself didn’t garner a single award nomination.
