Colin Farrell: 'I was worried going back to TV would kill my career'

Colin Farrell has admitted he felt like he was “giving-up” when he returned to TV for True Detective.

The A-list actor first shot to fame on soap Ballykissangel and transitioned to movies soon after.

However, the Dublin native is making his small screen comeback on the hugely successful HBO series co-starring Vince Vaughan.

The In Bruges star divulged he worried that going back to TV might harm his career.

“I haven’t done TV in years, and it’ll be the same thing as doing film. But the head plays tricks on you, and you think, ‘Am I giving up now?’ and that nonsense,” he said.

“I know there’ll be misgivings, suspicions, or daggers. But it can create an intense experience in the moment,” he told InStyle magazine.

True Detective starred Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey last season and won universal critical acclaim.

Colin’s co-star Vince recently revealed the Irish actor has been a “joy” to work with.

Meanwhile, the actor also opened up about his sadness over Alexander being a box office flop.

It was an intense disappointment. It was a bomb,” he admitted.

“But I would do it all over again. I stand by the movie and will to my dying day. If I did it again, I wouldn’t be so intense, for the betterment of the film.”
