Top Gear bosses reportedly didn’t encourage Chris Evans to stay

BBC

Top Gear bosses reportedly didn’t encourage Chris Evans to stay on the show.

The radio DJ was allegedly compared to British Labour leader, Jeremy Corbyn, who has come under fire for refusing to quit as leader of his political party, despite his MPs passing a motion of no confidence in him.

“When Chris said he had his doubts about staying on, they reminded him of the current political situation and told him ‘Don’t be a Corbyn’,” a source revealed to The Sun.

Whilst the presenter was in two minds about the choice to leave, the Top Gear team had their mind made up and weren’t pushed to convince him to stay on.

“It was obvious something needed to change and those in charge weren’t willing to convince him to stay,” the source added.

Chris announced he would be stepping down from Top Gear on Twitter.
