Ed Sheeran is set to write this year’s X Factor winner’s song – unless it’s Honey G.
The competition’s winning song last year was a cover of Bob Dylan’s Forever Young but wasn’t the success they had hoped for as it only reached number 9 in the charts.
The singer has reportedly sent boss Simon Cowell a fresh, new track that will be this year’s winner’s single.
No chill: Ed Sheeran has reportedly written the X Factor winner’s song – but it won’t work for Honey G | ITV
The track is supposedly written in typical Ed fashion – an acoustic ballad that’s likely to fare far better than last year’s.
“Everything Ed does turns to gold. To have him write the winner’s song is huge and amazing news for this year’s winner,” a source told The Sun.
“All the remaining contestants have heard the track and it works for the majority.
“They can’t believe potentially their first ever single will be written by Ed.
“The only chance his song won’t get used is if 5Am or Honey GÂ pull off a shock win. Then bosses might need to consider another one of their options.”
