TOWIE star gives health update following ‘huge shock’ diagnosis

TOWIE star has given a health update following her “huge shock” diagnosis.

Lucy Mecklenburgh has opened up about recently being diagnosed with endometriosis and adenomyosis.

The 32-year-old revealed that although she did suffer from the “usual symptoms” of the condition, she was still taken aback by the confirmation.

According to the World Health Organisation: Endometriosis is a disease in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus.

The Johns Hopkins Medicine Organisation describes Adenomyosis as endometrial tissue (tissue that lines the uterus) growing into the wall of the uterus.

The mother-of-two opened up about her diagnosis to her 1.7 million Instagram followers.

The TOWIE star posted a picture of her in the mirror showcasing her bloated stomach.

She captioned the story: “The joys of endometriosis and adenomyosis. I’m actually fed up of trying to cover the bloating I get 80 per cent of the time.”

“This is actually mild bloating for me. I’ve tried every spanx, every supplement (even though I knew they prob wouldn’t work) eating well and exercising does hugely help.”

“But the anxiety of spring/summer approaching and wearing swimwear and summer clothes in general is really getting to me.”

“I know there’s so many worse things but it’s so horrible having zero control of symptoms like bloating even with a healthy lifestyle. Advice very welcome.”

Lucy’s husband Ryan Thomas is currently competing on ITV’s Dancing On Ice.

Ryan and Lucy met back in 2017 on the TV show Survival Of The Fittest and got engaged two years later while on a romantic Italian holiday.

While Roman is Lucy’s first child, Ryan is also the father of 13-year-old daughter Scarlett, who he shares with ex Tina O’Brien.

In 2021, the reality star revealed her wedding plans had taken a back seat as she focused on motherhood.

Speaking to OK! Magazine at the time, the mother-of-one said: [Wedding planning] is definitely on the back burner.”

“It’s been a tough year for everyone and with us having a baby, it’s definitely not a focus,” Lucy explained.

“We just don’t know how long it’s going to be until the world feels a little bit more normal. We’re going to wait until everything calms down and we’ll start planning.”
