Strictly’s Amy Dowden lands HUGE presenting gig after revealing she is cancer-free

Strictly’s Amy Dowden has landed a huge TV presenting gig after she recently revealed she is cancer-free.

The professional dancer shared the health update with her 656k Instagram followers last week.

The 33-year-old was diagnosed with breast cancer back in May 2023.

The professional dancer landed a new presenting role on ITV‘s Lorraine.

The 33-year-old has said she was “delighted” and “couldn’t wait to get started” following the “toughest year of her life.”

Amy who currently hosts BBC’s Dare To Dance, will present behind-the-scenes content at Lorraine and hold celebrity interviews.

In an interview with The Mirror, Amy said: “I’m delighted to join the Lorraine family and can’t wait to be part of the brilliant team of presenters on the show.”

“It’s been a tough year but this is something I’m so excited about and can’t wait to get started.”

Meanwhile, Lorraine Kelly, the face of the show said: “We’re thrilled to have Amy join the Lorraine family.”

“We always love it when Amy is on the show, and know our viewers do too, so we can’t wait to see more of her.”

“She’s had an incredibly tough year and overcome it with such grace, I’m so excited to welcome her to the show,” Lorraine concluded.

Appearing on The One Show on Monday, Amy revealed how the Strictly family have been “brilliant” following her diagnosis.

The cancer survivor explained: “They came to the rescue because I obviously I did get diagnosed with breast cancer at the start of the series.”

“And I gave them the call and it added to it and it was a lovely surprise for each of the contributors as well.”

“Dianne [Buswell] came along, Graziano [Di Prima], Carlos [Gu], Oti [Mabuse] – it was brilliant. It’s such a family, the Strictly family, it really is. We go to each other for everything.”

Sharing the all-clear with her followers, Amy wrote: “NO EVIDENCE OF DISEASE! Words I dreamed of! My biggest accomplishment yet!”

“I won’t be getting the all clear for 5 years especially with a hormone fed cancer. But it was all worth it. Words I never thought I’d hear at one point.”

She continued: “So grateful for all the care I received and continue to have.”

“I will still need a monthly injection for 5 years and regular check ups.”

“Chemo and this past year has certainly took its toll on my body both physically and mentally, so I’ll be taking the next few months to heal and recover.”

“I have so much to strive and live for, and so grateful for another chance at life! Something I know not all get. I certainly see life differently and my life has changed forever!” she added.

“Cancer affects too many so I will continue to do all I can to raise awareness and make sure I get as many as I can to #checkthemselves.”

“It’s time to look ahead after what’s been the toughest year, and one I certainly didn’t expect!”
