Former X Factor star Lucy Spraggan has revealed Simon Cowell is set to walk her down the aisle.
The 32-year-old has struck up a friendship with the music mogul in recent years, after he reached out to her to apologise.
The former judge contacted Lucy after she spoke out about being sexually assaulted during her time on the show in October 2012.
The singer, who was 21 at the time, was raped in a hotel room following a night out to celebrate Rylan Clark’s 24th birthday.
Lucy quit the talent show two weeks later, and has since hit out at show bosses for their lack of support following her exit.
After publicly opening up about her experience, Simon was the first to reach out and apologise to Lucy.
The singer said his apology was a huge part of her “healing”, and the pair ended up becoming close friends.
Speaking to Fabulous Magazine about her relationship with Simon, Lucy admitted she has completely forgiven him – and he’s now set to walk her down the aisle at her wedding in June.
The singer and her girlfriend Emilia Smith, 33, got engaged in March.
Recalling the moment she asked Simon the important question, she said: “We’d been staying at Simon and Lauren’s house for a few days. One morning, Simon was about to get in the sea and I said: ‘Will you give me away?’ and he replied: ‘Yeah!'”
“He went off for a swim and when he came back, he said: ‘I’d absolutely love to. It would be an honour.'”
The former X-Factor contestant explained that she regularly visits Simon and his girlfriend Lauren Silverman’s house in Los Angeles, describing them as her “surrogate parents.”
She gushed over her love for the two, and said: “We’re all great friends. I care about them, they care about me, and Simon really cares about my life, my wellness and my music.”
“Simon and Lauren feel like surrogate parents. They’re always looking out for me.”
Lucy also admitted that she has built bridges with ITV, after the channel’s director Kevin Lygo invited her in for a meeting.
The meeting was to discuss the past, and how things can change going into the future.
“I said: ‘Look, I’m not an enemy. I don’t want to burn anything down. I want to build stuff up,” she recalled. “I said: ‘That was f**ked up, don’t let that happen again.'”
“Going on a reality TV show is like a huge trauma. You wake up one day and everyone’s talking about you. I’d like to see TV bosses provide mental health resources and the creation of a mental health pension fund, where production companies have to delegate 5% of their costs into a pot for future mental health resources.”
