Lucy Watson reveals fertility struggles after announcing pregnancy: ‘I wasn’t sure it could ever happen’

Lucy Watson has opened up about her fertility struggles, after announcing she’s expecting her first child with her husband James Dunmore.

The former Made In Chelsea stars, who tied the knot in 2021, shared the exciting news via Instagram on Wednesday.

The 32-year-old has since admitted their journey to starting a family hasn’t been easy, and she wasn’t sure it could “ever happen”.

During a Q&A on Instagram, a follower asked if they struggled to conceive after referring to their unborn child as their “little miracle”.

Lucy replied: “A lot of people asking this. I genuinely believe every baby is a miracle, but yes we did have our struggles. I think we went into it like most, thinking it would happen easily. It was definitely not the case for us.

“There were times when it felt like bad news after bad news, it was never ending and the light at the end of the tunnel felt faint. We have seen many specialists over the last few ears and there were times when I wasn’t sure if this could ever happen for us.

“We know there are people out there who have it way worse and for everyone struggling, I see you & I feel your pain.”

When asked how to support someone who is struggling to conceive, the mum-to-be responded: “It can be a very lonely & depressing time. I know for me it was all consuming.

“It can be hard for friends and family to know what to say… I get that. Sometimes too many questions is too much and then not asking at all makes you feel slightly unseen.

“I think just letting someone know you’re there for them, checking in on how they are feeling,” she continued. “I would avoid saying things like ‘if you just relax it will happen’ or ‘when you stop thinking about it it will happen’. These kind of things are unhelpful.

“Also avoiding them or the topic, not nice. People need to know you’re a safe space, and they will open up about it if that’s what they want to do.”

Lucy also revealed she really struggled with morning sickness, and was turned off food for weeks.

“Because of what we’ve been through to get here, I always said I would never be someone who complains when I finally do get pregnant… but wow the 1st trimester 😅,” she wrote.

“I think I was nauseous/throwing up until about 14 weeks. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING made me feel sick. I literally hated food. I found I could stomach green apples & crackers. I was basically living off apples lol.”

The former Made In Chelsea star didn’t reveal her due date, but confirmed they’re expecting a Pisces baby – meaning they will be born in February or March.

The parents-to-be started dating after meeting on Made In Chelsea, and got engaged five years later.

James proposed to Lucy while holidaying in Greece back in 2020, and one year later the couple returned to get married on September 12, 2021.

Lucy looked stunning on their big day in a dress by bridal designer Natalie Rolt.
