Love Island’s Olivia Bowen reveals battle with post-natal depression

Love Island’s Olivia Bowen has candidly revealed her battle with post-natal depression.

The 29-year-old welcomed her first child, a son named Abel, with her husband Alex Bowen last June.

Sadly, Olivia’s transition to motherhood hasn’t been easy, as the reality star has struggled with her mental health since giving birth.

Speaking to OK! magazine, Olivia confessed: “I’ve had quite a hard time in the last 3 or 4 months.

“I think I did actually suffer from post-natal depression and it turned into bad anxiety. So, I ended up back in therapy a couple of months ago.”

Olivia’s labour experience was particularly traumatic, as it lasted 30-hours and ended with a forceps being used to get their baby out.

The mother-of-one continued: “It was quite a hard time and I feel like I’m finally coming out the other side of it now, I’ve finally asked for help and accepted the way I feel.”

“It’s been really nice to get validation from a therapist and talk it through to dismantle little things that have happened to me.

“I definitely feel like I’m in a better place now and I recommend to any mum, reach out and ask for help, it isn’t normal to feel super, super down. If you’re really struggling then you need to ask for help.”

Olivia and Alex struck up a romance on the 2016 series of Love Island.

The couple tied the knot two years later, and are now looking to expand their family even further.

Olivia said: “We are considering having another baby, possibly next year, we have been talking about it quite a lot.

“Who knows, but, we are definitely thinking about it next year. I had a three-year age gap with me and my brother, and that was a lovely age gap so I’d like mine close together. But we will see.”
