Jesy Nelson ‘almost ready to release new music’ – two months after splitting from record label

Jesy Nelson is reportedly “almost ready to release new music,” two months after splitting from her record label.

The 31-year-old parted ways with Polydor Records in July, just 14 months after originally signing with them.

According to The Sun, the former Little Mix star has picked her second single, almost one year after making her solo debut with Boyz.

Jesy is reportedly releasing the track as an independent artist – possibly by launching her own label.

A source told the outlet: “It’s been a bumpy 12 months but Jesy is almost ready to release new music once more.”

“Things are naturally going a lot slower due to the fact she’s now an independent artist but she now has 100% control to do as she pleases.”

“The song has been chosen and plans are in motion.”

“The exact details are being ironed out at the moment but it’s looking like she will release her next single via her own label,” the source continued.

Over the weekend, one of Jesy’s demos, titled La, La, leaked online, which featured an explicit male rap.

A source close to Jesy said: “The leak was a very early Jesy demo from 2021 – and one of dozens of demos recorded at that time.”

“There are absolutely no plans for it to be released either as a single or even an album track.”

Jesy was snapped up by Polydor Records in May 2021, after she quit Little Mix in December 2020.

Months later, Jesy released her debut solo single Boyz with Nicki Minaj, which peaked at no. 4 in the charts.

However, the singer’s first solo release was marred by controversy at the time, as Jesy was accused of Blackfishing in the song’s music video.

“Blackfishing” is a term used to describe women — primarily white women — who portray themselves as black.
