ITV have lined up an emergency standby host for this year’s National Television Awards.
The 2023 NTAs will take place on Tuesday, September 5 at London’s O2 Arena.
Comedian Joel Dommett is set to host the awards show for the third time, after taking over from David Walliams back in 2021.
In May, Joel announced he and his wife Hannah Cooper were expecting their first child together – and Hannah is due to give birth any day now.
Speaking about his upcoming NTAs hosting gig, the comedian told The UK Sun: “My wife is very pregnant … but there is a seat for Hannah at the O2 and we’ll just hope she is still there at the end of the evening.”
“We’ll almost certainly take our hospital bag along, just in case.”
“There is a contingency. They won’t tell me who the contingency is but the best thing is everybody is there – every presenter going.”
Joel continued: “What I would do is just give a section to everyone – you know, just get Stephen Mulhern to do one, Holly Willoughby to do the next bit, get Bradley Walsh on…”
The nominees for the 2023 National Television Awards were announced earlier this month.
