Holly Willoughby has started her 40th birthday celebrations in tears, after being surprised by her This Morning co-stars.
The presenter arrived at the ITV studios on Wednesday morning, where she was greeted by her clapping colleagues who sang Stevie Wonder’s Happy Birthday.
The studios had been decorated with a host of colourful balloons, with co-host Phillip Schofield filming Holly’s teary reaction.
“I’m going to spend the day in tears,” she said.
Taking to Instagram, Holly revealed that she decided to wear the same dress as her mum did on her 40th birthday on her special day.
She wrote: “This photo of my Mum was taken on her 40th birthday at the party she had in the garden. I remember this day so clearly.”
“It’s a strange thing to reach the age you remember your Mum being! …I asked her if she’d kept the dress and of course she had… Strange moment zipping it up this morning, wondering how she felt on her big day.”
“I can’t be with my Mum or Dad today but wearing this in her honour makes me feel closer to them… love you Mumma! #sothisis40 💕”

Speaking ahead of her milestone birthday, the mum-of-three expressed her sadness over cancelling her birthday bash.
“It’s bittersweet as next week I’m celebrating my big 4-0 and tomorrow night would have been my big birthday party that I had to cancel,” she said on This Morning last week.
“So it will look very different. But as long as I’ve got a cake and a glass in my hand I’ll be fine,” Holly laughed.
