Coleen Nolan admits she’s considering a double mastectomy – as sisters continue to battle cancer

Linda and Anne Nolan were diagnosed with different forms of cancer earlier this year

Coleen Nolan has admitted she’s considering having a double mastectomy, as her two sisters continue to battle cancer.

On Monday, Linda and Anne Nolan told fans they were both diagnosed with different forms of cancer earlier this year – years after they older sister Bernie died of breast cancer back in 2013.

Linda has been diagnosed with cancer of the liver, while Anne is currently battling breast cancer.

Speaking to the Mirror about her sisters’ illnesses, Coleen said: “The guilt is incredible, I don’t feel guilty for not having the disease; I feel guilty for being afraid of it when I think of Anne and Linda living with it.”

“But of course it’s hard not to be consumed by fear when those so close to you have been affected.”

When asked if she’s considered a mastectomy to remove her breasts, Coleen said: “Of course. Seeing what Anne and Linda are going through has made me think a lot about having a mastectomy.”

“I’ve been lying in bed at night, looking down at my breasts and thinking, ‘Am I just walking around with two timebombs here?’ If that’s a possibility, maybe I need to get rid of them.”

Linda and Anne were diagnosed shortly after they returned from filming a series of The Nolans Go Cruising in March, and both sisters are having chemotherapy at a hospital in Blackpool.

This is the second time Anne has had the disease, after first being diagnosed in 2000.

Meanwhile, this is Linda’s third battle with cancer – as she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006, and secondary cancer on her pelvis in 2017.

During an interview with The Sun earlier this week, 61-year-old Linda said: “It’s just really hard and I’m scared of dying. I don’t want to die.”

“I want to be around and see my great nieces and nephews grow up, and that’s why I’m putting everything I’ve got into trying to get well.”

Anne, 69, told the newspaper: “I don’t want to die. I love my life so much. I love my daughters, my grandchildren, my friends, all my family.

“I want to live for as long as I possibly can. I am scared of dying as well. Even though I believe in God, I’m still scared.”
