YouTube star joins Strictly Come Dancing line-up

The news was confirmed this morning

YouTube star HRVY has been confirmed for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

The 21-year-old, whose real name is Harvey Leigh Cantwell, was announced as the show’s 11th celebrity contestant this morning.

Speaking about appearing on the BBC series, HRVY said: “Being on Strictly is going to be such an amazing experience and I’m so thankful to be taking part this year.”

“I think my mum is more excited that she’ll be able to see me every Saturday night now.”

The CBBC presenter is following in the footsteps of fellow social media stars Joe Sugg and Saffron Barker, who appeared on previous seasons of Strictly.

HRVY, who secured a record deal in 2017, has almost 3 million subscribers on YouTube, and 4.6 million followers on Instagram.

The news comes after Strictly confirmed the return of Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing this year, after he was forced to drop out of the competition in 2019 due to a leg injury.

Jamie joined the line-up on Thursday alongside Eastenders star Maisie Smith, comedian Bill Bailey, and presenter JJ Chalmers.

A host of other stars have already been confirmed for this year’s series – including The Wanted star Max George, Good Morning Britain presenter Ranvir Singh, BBC Radio 1’s Clara Amfo, actress Caroline Quentin, and former NFL player Jason Bell.

World champion boxer Nicola Adams has also joined the line-up, and is set to make history by being a part of the show’s first same-sex couple.

Strictly Come Dancing is set to return to BBC One this Autumn.
