The former Corrie actress, who played Hilda between 1964 and 1987 died in hospital on Friday.
Her niece Sonia Hearld, 64, announced that she died peacefully after been admitted to hospital on Tuesday morning.
“There was nothing telling us anything was wrong – she was just generally weak and under the weather” she said.
