The Crown fans ‘set for shock’ as new series to begin with fatal Princess Diana crash

The Crown fans are reportedly in store for a shock as the sixth and final series is set to depict Princess Diana’s fatal car crash.

Part one of the show will join Netflix on November 16, while the remaining six episodes will join on December 14.

According to the UK Sun, the first four episodes will cover 1997 when the late Princess of Wales (Elizabeth Debicki) and Dodi Al-Fayed (Khalid Abdalla) began dating.

The final six episodes will document the years up to 2005 when Prince Charles married Camilla Parker-Bowles.

A source told the publication: “In previous series the creators have had four episodes cover as much as four years.”

“But this exception shows how the producers consider this to be a critical period for the Royal Family — more than any point in the 50 years the show has covered.”

“Kicking the new series off with the death of the then Princess of Wales will be a bold decision but the creators insist they’ve dealt with it with great sensitivity and won’t show the crash itself.”

Taking to X last month, Netflix wrote: “After six seasons, seven years and three casts, The Crown comes to an end later this year. Here’s a hint at what’s to come in our final season.”

The teaser trailer shows the upcoming series will show Charles’ wedding to Camilla Bowles.

Filming for the final season began earlier this year at St Andrew’s University – where Prince William and Kate Middleton first met back in 2001.

Rufus Kampa will portray a young Will from the age of 15, while Ed McVey will play him during his late teenage years into his 20s.

Newcomer Meg Bellamy was cast as Will’s future wife Kate.

Season 6 of The Crown will mark all three actors’ professional screen debuts.
