RTE staff used to fill seats for Nicky Byrne's new Lottery game show

Nicky Byrne’s new game show is already losing viewers, and now RTE staff members are being asked to fill in as a live audience.

An internal email was sent around to RTE staff asking if they and their families would sit in for a recording this Wednesday, as the show wants to start focusing on a live audience.

The Million Euro Challenge was said to be “in crisis” last week, after the game show lost 200,000 viewers. Viewers have been struggling to understand the game, and very little amounts of money has been given out so far.

An RTE spokesperson told the Irish Sun: “Million Euro Challenge is filmed midweek in front of a live studio
audience and, at times, contestants are not in a position to fill their allocation of seats.

Crisis: RTE are already reviewing the game show | RTE

“If there are a few seats available in the audience these will be filled to support the contestants and also to enhance the live studio atmosphere.”

Now RTE are trying to “revive” the show that replaced old favourite Winning Streak.

“The audience has been shown in every episode so far and the production team is constantly reviewing the show and the studio atmosphere.

“This includes the timing, duration and frequency of shots of the audience, especially when it is a new show like this.”
