RTÉ have AXED plans to outsource children’s programming

RTÉ have axed plans to outsource the making of children’s TV programmes, after receiving serious backlash from the Irish public.

Back in November, it was announced that the state broadcaster was going to axe all in-house programming aimed at young peoople, which they blamed on a “challenging financial environment”.

However, RTÉ have decided to scrap that decision after finding the required funding following negotiations between the workers’ union and management.

According to the Irish Sun, Labour Party Senator Kevin Humphreys welcomed the move after the state broadcaster came to a deal with the RTE Trade Union Group.

“The decision taken today by RTE is the right one and means children can continue to enjoy the great in-house domestically produced programming that has entertained generations of Irish children,” Kevin said.
