Rob Sheehan admits: 'People shout across the street – I thought you were dead Darren!'

Rob Sheehan has admitted people still call him Darren.

The Misfits star became best known in Ireland for his role in Love/Hate, and admitted fans still shout at him across the street.

“I feel like I’m the new JR because lots of people are like, ‘We thought you were dead Darren’.

“That’s the main holler that I get across the street. There’s always a lovely intent behind it. It’s always pleasant.”

Speaking at the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival, where he premiered his new movie The Road Within, Rob said he makes an effort to stay in touch with the Love/Hate crew.

“We finish working and go here there and everywhere. I do keep in contact with people. When I’m back I’ll be seeing a few heads.”

Meanwhile Rob admitted he’s not sure if an American version of Love/Hate is going to work.

Remake: Love/Hate is going to the US

The RTE drama is being adapted by Showtime and will be set in Hawaii.

“In Hawaii there’s a pretty bad meth crowd there so I suppose there is the backdrop,” he said.

“It’s hard to know. Sometimes these remakes when they’re carbon copies of the show at home, it just begs the question why do we do it at all?”
