Riverdale fans are all saying the same thing about THAT plot twist in the final ever episode

WARNING! This article contains spoilers for season 7, episode 20 of Riverdale.

It’s the end of an era.

After seven seasons, Netflix’s hit series Riverdale has officially come to an end.

The show’s final episode joined the streaming giant today, and fans were left shook by one plot twist…

The teen drama jumps ahead 67 years, and Betty (played by Lili Reinhart) is now in her 80s.

She finds out that Jughead (Cole Sprouse) has died at age 84 — and that she is now the last member of the Riverdale High group alive.

That night when she falls asleep, Betty reunites with Jughead once again, and he offers to let her re-live whatever day she wants to in Riverdale.

Betty chooses to go back to her final day of school and the party that followed – which she’d missed at the time because she had the mumps.

While back in Riverdale, Jughead tells her what happened to everyone after they graduated – revealing that they were both in a quad relationship with Archie (KJ Apa) and Veronica (Camila Mendes) for over a year.

It’s safe to say viewers didn’t see that twist coming, and they took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to share their thoughts.

Many described the twist as “stupid” and “unserious”, while others joked it still wasn’t the weirdest thing that happened in the show’s history.
