Ray D’Arcy admits he made the move from radio to TV too soon

Ray D’Arcy has admitted that he made the move from radio to TV too soon.

The radio host launched his TV show, The Ray D’Arcy Show, just weeks after he embarked on a new radio programme with RTÉ.

“In an ideal world, you wouldn’t do that,” he said.

The Kildare native said that normally presenters would wait up up to two years before starting a new show.

“You’d do the first, give yourself 18 months or two years,” he told TV Now.

“Then settle in to do that before you do the next.”

The presenter also admitted that his new season will be more free-flowing like his radio show after his producer wife Jenny Kelly advised him to.

“By its nature you have to be more relaxed on radio and it is more conversational,” he explained.

“Now Jenny would say we need to get that more on TV.”

Ray revealed recently that he will be adding a new segment to his show to make it more relaxed.

The Ray D’Arcy Show is back this Saturday at 9.40pm on RTE One.
