Nidge heads to Hollywood? Love/Hate's Stuart Carolan considering bringing series to big screen

Love/Hate’s creator Stuart Carolan has hinted that Nidge and co could end up on the big screen.

The TV writer admitted that he “wouldn’t rule it out” having the RTE gangland series transform itself into a movie.

However Stuart said it would be a while – until at least after season six – before a Love/Hate film could happen.

He said: “A Love/Hate feature length film? Not immediately. I’m concentrating on [the TV show], it’s hard enough to do this as it is.

“We work pretty hard on this, we’ve only just started on the TV series. But it would have possibilities. You wouldn’t rule it out.”

And Stuart also hinted that as well as season six happening next year – there could also be a season seven.

He added: “There’s development in place at the moment in RTE for a sixth one – but beyond that, if I say anything more, I’ll be killed.”

Meanwhile, speaking to Ian Dempsey on Today FM, Stuart admitted he still feels sad over killing off John Boy – but has to offer up the reality of death.

Death: Stuart admits he regrets killing off Aidan Gillen’s character | RTE

“Every year you deal with it just being six episodes, you won’t really plan 20 or 30 episodes ahead.

“At the heart of it, is always trying to get the truth of the tragedy. Some of the deaths aren’t just for sensation, let’s just lose a character.

“Sometimes you lose characters in very undramatic ways – if you look at the way Debbie died, it’s the most undramatic, unglamorous way you can do it.

“It’s not, let’s wait until after the ad break and see who dies. It’s horrific, horrible and you watch them and they’re decaying on screen. You’re trying to show that.”
