Love/Hate star will always be a Garda – as he admits the force comes first: 'I love my job',

RTE star and full-time Garda Kieran O’Reilly has revealed he would never leave the police to pursue a full-time career in acting.

The Dubliner who used to work in Garda National Drugs Unit has admitted though he enjoys acting in his spare-time, his role in the force comes first.

“My job is my job. I want to stay in my job, which I love and this is mainly a hobby, which I am extremely enthusiastic about,” he admitted.

The 36-year-old caused major controversy over his role as undercover cop Ciaran Madden in the RTE hit show in 2013 and was reportedly in trouble after his appearance.

But now it has emerged that the part-time actor wasn’t in breach of any disciplinary regulations and is now working as an intelligence offer for the Garda National Immigration Bureau.

Keeping busy, the silver fox has just shot a short film called Little Bear which was directed by two of Love/Hate’s assistant directors.

Speaking to The Irish Star, Kieran revealed he would love the RTE drama to return to TV screens.

“It was a very real experience and mammoth experience and I genuinely don’t think I will ever experience something like that again” he admitted.
