Love Island open applications for new series

Love Island have opened applications for the 2021 series.

Fans were left devastated when the popular dating show confirmed the summer series would not be going ahead this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

But ITV2 are all set for a return of the reality show, and have already started taking applications for potential Islanders, calling out for “vibrant singles” who are in search of love.

The call-out reads: “ITV2 are looking for vibrant singles from across the UK who want to head to the sun, in search of love.

“The chosen cast will spend time in a luxury villa, getting to know one another, but to remain in paradise they must win the hearts of the public and their fellow Islanders who ultimately decide their fate on Love Island.”

The casting process is expected to begin in January, with a source telling The Sun: “Reality shows can now have huge casts living together as long as all participants and crew have isolated for two full weeks beforehand, as well as having regular temperature testing both on and off-set.

“Obviously there’s always an element of risk but ITV bosses feel it’s time to get the Love Island cogs turning, with a view to it being made in early summer.”

Last year’s summer series saw Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea crowned the winners, while Paige Turley and Finley Tapp won the winter edition of the show earlier this year.
