Love Island paid tribute to former contestant Mike Thalassitis last night, but some viewers aren’t very happy with it.
Mike, who starred in the 2017 series, sadly took his own life back in March – leaving his family, friends, and fans of the show devastated.
The show finally returned to our screens on Monday night, and at the end of the first episode, a photo of Mike was shown alongside the words: “In loving memory of Mike Thalassitis 1993-2019.”

While some fans praised show bosses for the gesture, others think they should have put together a longer tribute.
One viewer tweeted: “Love Island Execs are s***. They gave Mike 2 seconds after the credits? Disgusting #loveisland.”
Another commented: “Did they just do a throw-away 2 second tribute to Mike and the end of the show? Lol wow that is shocking wtf. #LoveIsland.”
Sorry but that 2 second tribute to mike was an actual joke. Blinked and it was gone. Can’t be the only one who thought it surely?? #LoveIsland

Mike deserved more than a 4 second segment at the end of the closing titles. Shame on you @LoveIsland. #LoveIsland

RIP Mike. I don’t think that 2 second tribute was good enough though @itv2 . Mike was a huge part of the show. He should of had a montage of best bits at least #loveisland
