Lewis Capaldi has won praise for opening up about his mental health struggles in his “brave” new Netflix documentary.
‘How I’m Feeling Now’ joined the streaming giant on Wednesday, and it gave fans a glimpse into the Scottish singer’s personal life.
The 26-year-old got candid about his anxiety battle, recent Tourette’s diagnosis, imposter syndrome and the pressures that come with fame in the raw and honest film.
In one scene, Lewis admitted he’s “never been more insecure” than when he was when he was trying to write his second album.
He said: “The success of the first [album] made me feel… self-conscious about my own abilities.”
Throughout the documentary, viewers see Lewis’ “anxious twitch” getting progressively worse as he feels under pressure to release new music.
Later, he decides to take a four-month break to take care of his mental health and during that break, the songwriter was diagnosed with Tourette’s.
Lewis said the diagnosis made “complete sense”, adding: “I know what the steps are to get better, the onus is on me to do it. It feels good, knowing I’m not dying.”
After watching the documentary, fans took to Twitter to praise Lewis for being so open about his struggles.
One wrote: “I’ve always thought Lewis Capaldi was pretty awesome from what I’ve seen of him over the years. Watching his documentary only confirms that belief, you can see what a genuine, kindhearted gent he really is, fair play to him for sharing his story & struggles.”
Another tweeted: “High praise to @LewisCapaldi for his documentary How I’m feeling now. Really great watch and also very brave to show a more vulnerable side of himself.”

Wow, the Lewis Capaldi doc “How I’m Feeling Now” is just brilliant.Beyond being a beautifully made film & brilliant documentary, it’s an equally hilarious & emotional look at a self deprecating pop star who could easily have a second career as a stand up comedian #HowImFeelingNow pic.twitter.com/w8V1GW7MPH

Cried watching Lewis Capaldi & his family talk about his panic attacks & health anxiety. Panic attacks aren’t just shortness of breath. Although it’s hard to watch in the documentary, its so nice to see it being explained in a real/raw way to raise awareness #HowImFeelingNow
