Chris O’Dowd is making an American version of Moone Boy – but won’t be starring in this version.
The Sky One show – which is set in his home town of Boyle – is being remade for a US audience.
Bosses at ABC, one of the country’s major networks, have bought the rights to the semi-autobiographical comedy and are backing it as a big ratings winner.

Now IFTA winner Chris will be writing the script for ABC’s version of the show, which follows the life of Martin Moone and his sarcastic, imaginary friend.
However the Hollywood Reporter have reported that Chris won’t be starring in this version of the show.
It has quickly become one of Sky’s biggest hits, with a third season set to air in coming months.

Moone Boy has also won huge plaudits in the US, with the Hollywood Reporter’s renowned chief TV critic Tim Goodman calling it the best comedy of 2013.
He said: “So few people knew about it but then ended up loving it when they watched.” He added that it was “one of the most charming series on TV”.
Previously Chris starred in Family Tree, which he co-produced with HBO and the BBC.
