Comedian David McSavage has blasted people who think it’s possible to be creative while drunk as “f**king idiots”.
The alcoholic Savage Eye star has been off the booze for five months, with it totally stalling his TV writing plans.
He said: “When you are hungover you cannot write, you can’t do anything. There are a lot of great writers out there who are incidentally alcoholics.

“But drink doesn’t add anything to your creativity. Not a f**king thing. Anybody who thinks that is a f**king idiot.”
Now David, 47, has bounced back and has written a new TV pilot, telling The Star that he hopes Once director John Carney will be behind the camera.
He said: “I’m working on a thing called Poor Me and The Bastards, and I’ve been chatting to John Carney about directing it, so hopefully if that works out we will do a pilot together.
“It will be a TV series drama/dark comedy. I was putting it together then life happens and I go back drinking again. If I’m drinking, I drink fast and want to get drunk and that’s it.

“But I’m off the drink now five months. I’m an alcoholic – I can’t go near it. For me now, I don’t drink. I’m sober and I feel secure.”
It comes as McSavage said he feels happy in life, living on his own.
He added: “I’m almost afraid to say, ‘I’m happy’. The minute you say something is working out, life will come and f**k you over, so I’m comfortable with being single.
“It’s a nice feeling. I’m a social leper who is very comfortable with his leprosy.”
