Confirmed: Colin Farrell is 'so excited' to be starring in second season of True Detective

Hollywood star Colin Farrell has confirmed he is starring in the new series of True Detective.

The Dublin actor said he is “so excited” that he will be part of the second season of the award-winning HBO show.

Stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson won widespread praise for their roles in the first season of True Detective.

Now Colin will begin shooting the second season – which has all new characters – in coming months in the US.

And the 36-year-old is delighted it will mean a chance to be around his children Henry and James while shooting.

He said: “I know it will be eight episodes and take around four or five months to shoot. I know very little about it.

“But we’re shooting in the environs of Los Angeles, which is great. It means I get to stay on at home and see the kids.

“These are early days and all the powers that be are working out locations and schedules and trying to lock down the cast.”

However Col admitted there is “level of anxiety” about going into TV for the first time – but feels HBO has raised the medium’s game.

“Its been shown time and time again how HBO have raised the bar regarding production values and fundamentally the writing that all their shows are based on,” he told the Sunday World.

“It’s extraordinary, it has reached a new level. You get to familiarise yourself with characters week after week.

“You get to build a life that takes a while to experience as an actor and also that takes a while to experience as a viewer. There’s just a greater sense of life to it.”
