Angela Scanlon: ‘Donald Trump made people boo me’

The Meath native was filming a documentary on the entrepreneur's young supporters

Angela Scanlon has revealed that Donald Trump made his supporters boo her and her BBC3 documentary crew.

The Meath native filmed a documentary for BBC3 during the early days of the recent American election where she met with many of the entrepreneur’s young supporters and also attended a rally of his – but Angela and her filming team didn’t receive a warm welcome.

“He got all of the people in the arena to turn on us and boo us and shout,” she said.

The One Show host admitted that it was from chatting to Donald’s supporters that sparked her excitement to see him talk at a rally.

“I had spoken to all [of the young Trump supporters] and the one thing that they all said was about Donald Trump’s charisma and his energy – all of those things,” she told Ryan Tubridy on the Late Late Show

“I was weirdly excited to see it in action. Obviously he has  a very unusual relationship with the press.

“At one point he got all of the people in the arena to turn on us and boo us and shout. It was weird, it was very intimidating [and] odd.

“It was kind of frightening at points. Whatever it is that I’m doing, I like to get stuck in. I tried to embrace every situation regardless of my personal feelings.”
