Aidan Gillen has said RTE’s newest drama is all in good taste.
The Dublin star, who played John Boy in award-winning gangland series Love/Hate, has insisted Charlie is not a “hack job”.
The highly-anticipated drama tells the story of controversial politician Charlie Haughey and decisions made during his time in government.

“I’m sure Haughey himself, as somebody with a keen interest in the arts, would have expected to be written
about at some point,” Aidan said.
“He would probably be wondering what took you so long.”
“It’s not a hack job, it’s not a tabloid hack job,” Aidan insisted.

“Colin (Teevan) is a proper playwright and screenwriter,” he told Pat Kenny on his Newstalk show.
“No matter how well we do it or how it goes down I know the knives will be out”.
Charlie starts on RTE One this Sunday at 9pm.
