Movie star Saoirse Ronan has admitted she finds it hard to be called a fashionista – as she’s not that stylish.
The Carlow actress admits that she initially didn’t even understand why she had to make an effort to look good for the red carpet.
But Saoirse – who now finds outfits of characters she is playing transform her thinking – feels lucky to have stylists to make her look perfect.

She said: “I’m very lucky that I have people who help me figure out something to wear.
“I found it quite difficult to understand why you needed to make such an effort with fashion and things like that when I started to do it.
“But fashion is such a huge part of filmmaking and it’s such a huge part of the image of a film anyway.

“And I find that as an an actor when I put the clothes on for the character I’m going to be playing it makes a huge difference to me.
“That’s kind of how it’s been easier to transition into this more fashiony scene I guess.”
