Penneys share disappointing news about their autumn/winter collection

Penneys have warned customers that their autumn/winter inventory is experiencing significant delays.

Irish shoppers may have to wait a little bit longer for new pieces to land in store due to shipment disruptions.

A spokesperson for the popular retailer said: “We are experiencing some delays to the handover of some autumn and winter inventory caused by port and container freight disruptions.”

“These delays are expected to reduce the inventory at the year-end by some £200m compared to expectation with a corresponding increase in cash on hand.”

On Monday, Penneys said that sales of its autumn and winter ranges have started well, with inventory during the last lockdown increasing by £400m above normal levels.

The retailer also revealed that autumn/winter stock held over from when stores were closed last year will be sold in the next few months.
