EXCLUSIVE! Darren Kennedy: 'I nearly had to save the day on X Factor when Cheryl split drink all over her dress'

TV presenter Darren Kennedy has revealed there was a near disaster on the X Factor this weekend – when Cheryl spilt water all over her designer dress.

The RTE host was over at the X Factor to join a celebrity panel on the Xtra Factor and was nearly forced to save the day.

“I nearly had to jump in when Cheryl spilled a glass of water over her Lanvin dress during the break,” he told Goss.ie.

But thankfully Cheryl got on with the show, despite judge Simon Cowell continuously referring to her as ‘Kermit’ because of the dress.

Panel: Things nearly ended in a fashion disaster

“It was nearly a disaster but like a true pro Cheryl just took her seat in time and got on with the show, with a wet lap and all,” Darren said.

While last night was all about his thoughts on the show and the talent, Darren revealed he would love to host the Xtra Factor one day himself.

“Sarah Jane Crawford is doing a brilliant job hosting Xtra Factor. I could definitely see myself being very at ease on hosting duties if a role came up on.”

After the show Darren hung out with Louis Walsh, Sinitta and Mel B, who Darren said was “wearing a leopard onsie.”

Meanwhile Darren jetted back to Dublin yesterday to continue filming new RTE 2 series #Trending.

The fashion focused show starts this Thursday at 8.30pm, and sees Darren go through the latest fashion trends as well as talking to Irish shoppers.

“Trending is all coming together so so well, I’m chuffed. An amazing team working their butts off to bring it together.” he told Goss.ie.

“Director Martin Gaughin is an incredible talent. Viewers can expect a fresh, slightly irreverent and fun approach to their new weekly style fix.
