WATCH: The Rubberbandits release music video for new song about suicide

The Rubberbandits have released a music video for their powerful new song about suicide.

The song, which was written and performed by Blindboy Boatclub and Mr Chrome, addresses the issue of suicide, and the video features scenes of people dancing on chairs and stools.

The song includes lyrics such as, “He isn’t lonely or addicted to drugs, he doesn’t owe his mother’s money to thugs, he’s not an alcoholic, he isn’t depressed, and he’s going to break a lot of hearts when he hangs himself.”

“He’s not afraid of his past or disappointed in his wife, he wasn’t called a f***ing knacker every day of his life, he never lied to his children they’re better off if he leaves, because what he has is a problem not a f***ing disease.”

The Rubberbandits, who are known for being vocal about mental health, performed the song at Electric Picnic recently, and it struck a chord with the audience.

Commenting under their new music video, one person wrote, “When they played this at EP nobody knew whether to dance, or nod thoughtfully and appreciate the subject matter. Great production and f***in’ daaark lyrics.”

Another person wrote, “Fair Play Lads, hopefully this will help somebody good video too, shows people they are not alone. No matter how down any of us get there’s always a better day..”
