WATCH: Rory McIlroy admits he ‘jumped on the bandwagon’ skipping Olympics

The golfer also opens up about his bromance with Niall Horan

Rory McIlroy has admitted that he jumped on the bandwagon skipping the Olympics.

The Belfast native revealed previously that he did not want to travel to Rio because of the Zika virus which posed the risk of birth defects in babies.

The golfer said that he “jumped on the bandwagon” using his excuse that he didn’t want to risk being infected with the virus.

The 27-year-old revealed that he has thought about having children in the future – but he used the same excuse everyone else used in the lead up to the Olympics this year.

“I think when I get older if I want to grow up and I want to have kids, then it might have been a good decision,” he told European’s Tour Billy in his Little Interview.

“But everything that happened in the Olympics went well and I’m glad it did all go well. A few people used that excuse and I sort of jumped on the bandwagon.”

Rory also talked about his bromance with fellow golf fanatic and musician, Niall Horan.
