Vogue Williams says she received ‘death threats’ after comments on Muslim extremists

Vogue Williams has said that she received “death threats” after comments on Muslim extremists.

In her Sunday World column last week the model she discussed the recent Manchester and London terror attacks.

The Dubliner then referenced Muslim former police chief Tarique Ghaffur who suggested internment camps for radical extremists were the answer to the issue.

She then said that she agreed with his opinion on internment, “This is something that should be decided by the people but I certainly agree with it.”

Vogue then continued, “The only way to stop these senseless attacks is to put any potential threats away.”

People reacted very negatively to her column, and in this weeks column she has apologised, but doesn’t think she deserved the reaction she got.

“After reflecting more deeply, I understand that suggesting internment camps – ie imprisonment without trial – was a misguided opinion.

“Everyone has the right to a fair trial and to be heard and I of course do not believe in a dictatorship type of government.”

Although she admitted she “made a mistake,” she doesn’t think she deserved the reaction which included “death threats, hate, and pure vilification.”
