Thalia Heffernan: 'I'm addicted to getting tattoos'

Thalia Heffernan has admitted that she’s getting a bit addicted to getting tattoos.

The Dublin model has been inked three times and recently got her tongue pierced, however she’s not worried about body modification harming her modelling career.

“I have weird rebellious phases where I like doing things like getting tattoos and my tongue pierced,” she said.

“Some people have a concept that tattoos and piercings are ugly or not necessary, but for me they’re a very personal thing and I like them.”

“They’re easy to cover. I can bring them into work but if people don’t like them, I can hide them.”

Thalia has made sure to keep her tattoos small so they’re easily covered in photoshoots.

“It is a bit of an addiction. I have to keep them small while I’m in this job, and in hidden places,” she said.

Meanwhile, the 20-year-old admitted that getting inked is a way for her to express her personality in an industry where she has been “dressed up as a mannequin” for so many years.

“It can be difficult in this job to have a personality in yourself. Since I was 15 I’ve been dressed up as a mannequin – changed to look as a certain designer wants for their dream to come true.”

“So it’s a personal thing to be able to mark myself, in my opinion, in a beautiful way, and to allow myself to be unique.”

Thalia has been dating her boyfriend Andrew McGuinness for ten months now and the beauty admitted that he finds her job much more “glam” than it actually is.

“He finds it more glam than it actually is because he’s not in the industry. We’re together ten months. It’s new, but we’re solid and I’m really happy,” she told The  Herald.
