Sinead O'Connor to tackle politics with a job offer from Sinn Fein

Sinead O’Connor could be switching careers after a job offer from Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams.

Gerry and Mary Lou McDonald believe the star can help them to “deliver change” across Ireland.

It comes after Sinead wrote on her website that she would like to join the party.

A spokesperson for Sinn Fein said: “We welcome Sinead O’Connor’s statement that she wants to join Sinn Fein.”

“We look forward to working with Sinead as part of Sinn Fein delivering change in communications and across Ireland,” they told the Star.

The Wicklow star previously expressed interest in joining the party on her blog: “I’m joining Sinn Fein now, if they’ll have me.”

“Just as a regular punter who wants to learn and contribute with whatever strengths I might have or learn” she added.

Sinn Fein president  Gerry Adams is a fan of the Nothing Compares 2 U star and previously hailed her as “A wonderful singer and a great human being.”

Sinead told her fans that she believes the best way to revolt against the Irish government is to vote for Sinn Fein who she believes provide the best alternative.

“The only vote that’s gonna give anyone a chance of bringing to fruition paragraphs three and four of the Proclamation of 1916 is Sinn Fein.

“Because no other party at the moment is going to honour hat Proclamation.”

Meanwhile, the 48-year-old singer’s acting career is also set to take off with a starring role in a movie about Sean McDermott and the 1916 Easter Rising.
