Sinead Kennedy confirms return to RTÉ’s Today show after taking extended break

Sinead Kennedy has confirmed she will be back on RTÉ’s Today show on Monday, after taking an extended maternity leave.

The 37-year-old was originally set to return to the programme in September, after welcoming her first child Indie in March 2021.

However, the TV presenter decided to extend her maternity leave last year, to spend more time with her naval officer husband Conor Kirwan and their baby daughter.

Sharing the first photo of them as a family-of-three on Instagram today, Sinead wrote: “We’ve had the most amazing first Christmas with Indie, spent loads of quality time together and with family. Honestly, couldn’t have asked for more.”

“Back to studio @rtetoday on Monday after an extended break to soak up every magical moment with our little girl.”

“It’s been so incredible to watch her grow these past few months, it’s time we’ll never get back and I’m lucky to have been in a position to take a step back,” she continued.

“But it was never going to last forever so our new reality begins on Monday and I know @daithiose and I will have the craic so that’ll make the transition a whole lot easier.”

“See you all on Monday @3.30 on @rteone then 😘,” she added, alongside the hashtags #backtowork #maternityleaveisover #backtoreality.

Sinead was replaced by Emer O’Neill during her leave of absence, who presented the show with Dáithí Ó Sé on Mondays and Tuesdays.
