Sile Seoige 'My cancer surgeries left my voice at risk'

She’s one half of Ireland’s most famous sisters but Sile Seoige hasn’t been without her struggles revealing she almost lost her singing voice during her battle against cancer.

Diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2012, the Galway native admitted she her voice was at risk after her surgeries.

“With the surgeries there was a risk to my voice and now I’m getting to sing on stage in the Olympia and I’m living a brilliant life,” the stage star said.

The former Newstalk presenter was candid about being in the public eye and admitted she doesn’t feel that she is living a celebrity lifestyle though being well-known for her job.

Speaking on the John Murray Show on RTE Radio 1, Sile said: “I don’t live the life of a celebrity at all.”

“I’m a very much a normal person leading a very private, normal life and I happen to do a job that has a public persona,” she added.

The 35-year-old is currently making her Olympia stage debut playing Surfia in famed musical comedy I, Keano.

Sile previously told Goss.ie, she wasn’t going to focus on her reviews in the acclaimed show.

“Probably will be some of them will say I’m pants so that’s OK, I’m prepared for either and I don’t mind,” she explained.
