Sile Seoige: 'I thank cancer for changing my attitude to life – for the BETTER'

TV star Sile Seoige has admitted she thought she was “invincible” before being hit with cancer.

The ex-RTE star is currently promoting her festive charity single Maybe This Christmas – just three years after battling thyroid cancer.

And Sile, 35, said the illness was the push she needed to totally change her attitude to life and find her voice.

She said: “Life is very good at the moment. I have never been as happy as I am right now and everything is in perspective. Within myself I am probably at my most content.

“If I had a chance to swap with the me I was before I felt sick I never would. It made me expand myself.

“I’m one of the lucky ones who came through cancer and I can no longer take anything for granted. Life is very pressured.

“I always thought I was good before the illness — I don’t smoke, I don’t drink much, I have no real vices and next thing I get cancer. We think we’re invincible until it happens to us.”

And Sile – who is currently at No7 in the Irish charts – told the Irish Sun the cancer battle helped her for the better.

She added: “I think something like this can shift your perspective and in my case it was for the better.

“Christmas is a wonderful time but for a lot of people, including myself a few years ago, it is an incredibly tough time… it’s good doing something proactive and giving back.”

She is raising the money for the Make a Wish Foundation and Childline.
