Rose of Tralee Maria Walsh hasn't had ANY women ask her on a date since coming out

Rose of Tralee Maria Walsh has revealed no girls have asked her on a date since winning the pageant.

The Philadelphia Rose revealed two weeks ago that she is gay – and single after splitting with her long-term love.

But the 27-year-old – who has become an LGBT role model – has found her love offers have been like a “drought”.

Asked if her sexuality admission caused women to try and land a date with her. she said: “Not one.

“I like to think there is a drought out there, but I don’t think that’s it.”

However Maria – whose family has been incredibly supportive – admits she will be so busy this year after winning the Rose of Tralee that she won’t have time to worry about her love life.

She told Today FM: “Between my work here [in the US at clothes firm] Anthropologie, and working with the Rose of Tralee and being their ambassador, I probably have enough on my plate to keep me busy.”

Previously Maria said she hopes to get married and have kids.

“I would have achieved it because if I met someone and it was right,” she said.

“Of course you want to be married to that person and of course you want to have children, because whether you’re gay or straight it’s never off the table

“That was never something I was overly concerned about because — like that great Irish saying — ‘What’s for you won’t pass you’.”
