Rosanna Davison reveals secret struggle she faced while taking part in Dancing With The Stars

Rosanna Davison has revealed the secret struggle she faced while taking part in Dancing With The Stars.

The former Miss World was partnered with Stephen Vincent on this year’s series, and made it to week eight of the competition.

Speaking to the Irish Sun, the mother-of-three admitted she was ready to leave the show when she did, as she was on the verge of “burnout”.

Rosanna and her husband Wes are parents to daughter Sophia, who was born via surrogate in 2019, and twins Oscar and Hugo, who she gave birth to in November 2020.

The 39-year-old confessed she was really struggling with “mum guilt” towards the end of her stint on the series.

She said: “It’s difficult to explain unless you’ve done it how intense it is, emotionally, mentally, physically. It’s time consuming but so much fun. I’d do it all again in a heartbeat.

“I didn’t get any negativity, people were very supportive. I was very clear from the beginning that I had no dance experience in this whole Latin and ballroom world and I was going into it just for a bit of confidence-building, a bit of pushing myself out of my comfort zone.”

“I had some really intense years with babies at home, I’d nearly forgotten what I used to like to do and who I used to be so I just wanted to really experience something different, a new creative project, learn a new skill and I feel I got everything out of it and more.

“But I had increasing mum guilt. I was approaching a feeling of burnout in the last couple of weeks. I was coming home from rehearsals and I didn’t have the energy to give to the children at home. So I felt it was the right time.”

Rosanna also revealed she was campaigning for her famous father, singer Chris de Burgh, to sign up for the show next year – but he wasn’t so keen.

During week six, Rosanna and Stephen danced the American Rumba to his hit song Lady In Red in tribute to her beloved dad.

“I did try to campaign a little bit for my dad to do it next year because I thought he could dedicate his dance to me,” she said.

“He looked at me as if I’d two heads. He laughed and said ‘I don’t think I’d last until week six’.”
