The family of Rory McIlroy’s new girlfriend believe he has “excelled themselves” in bagging her.
The Open champion has been dating part time model Sasha Gale for five weeks after meeting her at a party.
And the 23-year-old former air hostess’ parents Cheree and Phil think the mega-rich golfer is the one who should be thanking his lucky stars.
“They are very happy for both of them but they know that Sasha is the real catch of the two,” a source said.

“Cheree is very proud of Sasha and is making it clear that anyone dating her daughter has done well for themselves.”
This the first relationship for Rory since his high-profile split from Danish tennis star Caroline Wozniacki.
And Sasha’s parents have made the decision not to interfere in the smitten pair’s love at this early stage.
“Her parents want to give them both space because the relationship is only a few weeks old and they’re both young,” a source told the Sun.

“It hasn’t been easy for Rory this year after his break up with Caroline Wozniacki, and Sasha knows that.
“They are a close-knit family and they’ve never been in a position like this before so they don’t want to speak openly.
“They haven’t met Rory but they have a lot of respect for him as a sportsman and for what he has done for Northern Ireland.”
