Radio star Mairead Farrell has admitted she never expected to end up as an engaged woman.
The Today FM favourite was left stunned when Louis Ronan proposed while on holiday with her son Dara.
But Mairead – who recently joined the Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show’s team – said her man decided to get down on one knee before she started nagging.
She said: “I had absolutely no idea Louis was going to propose, none whatsoever.

“We’re four years together recently, so he did it just before we marked that.
“He was joking around saying that he did it a few months before I’d start dropping mad hints about it – he got in there before any of that.
“It was a very normal holiday, with Dara and his best friend too – so it’s not like we were away on our own. So it was the last thing I expected.”
But Mairead revealed she has absolutely no plans to jump right into marriage planning.

Speaking at the launch of this year’s Cheerios Childline Breakfast Together Week, the Ireland’s Fittest Family host said she wants to wed in summer of next year.
“We’re only engaged a month last weekend, so haven’t got any plans,” she told the Herald.
“We just have an idea of next summer, but in Ireland that could be May through to September, and to be honest May is too soon anyway.
“We’ve yet to decide where, but we’re leaning towards marrying in Ireland.”
