Lorraine Kelly comes under fire over comment about Angela Scanlon’s skin

British presenter Lorraine Kelly has come under fire over a comment she has made about Angela Scanlon.

The Irish presenter recently appeared on ITV’s Lorraine to discuss her stint on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing with her dance partner, Carlos Gu.

The 39-year-old previously revealed that she is embracing her natural skin tone on the show, opting to ditch the weekly spray tans.

Speaking on Lorraine, Angela chatted about her pale complexion and admitted that she loves her natural skin tone.

Lorraine made reference to the broadcaster’s decision to forego fake tan on the dance show by stating: “You have not sort of really gone in for the fake tan and all that.”

The presenter continued to comment on Angela’s complexion, and said: “You’re almost blue to be fair.”

Lorraine’s comment hasn’t gone down well with fans of the Strictly contestant, as a clip of the interview has since gone viral on TikTok.

One user wrote: “So bad, Lorraine openly laughing at her, Angela handled the interview very professionally shame Lorraine couldn’t do the same.”

Another commented: “That was such a horrible comment from Lorraine, I’m a redhead with pale skin and I have had people trying to tell me i’m unattractive.”

Another TikTok user said: “Cancel this woman!”

Angela opened up about her decision to ditch fake tan years ago, stating that it had everything to do with her daughters.

“I have two young daughters and I haven’t worn fake tan, I used to years ago,” she said.

“And I feel like, If I’m telling them to be comfortable in their own skin and embrace what they have and then I don’t embody that myself, It feels you know, a little hypocritical.”

The TV presenter told The Irish Sun last month: “I feel really touched when I get a message from somebody who says their daughter is suddenly OK with not wearing fake tan because she saw me on the telly with my white legs out.”

“I never felt that when I was young. I never saw anyone super pale on telly and, obviously, there’s different levels of that across so many minorities.”

“There’s been absolutely no pushback from Strictly on it. If you want to wear tan, you wear it. If you don’t, you don’t.”
