Latte to go? Markus Feehily: 'I didn't set up my mobile coffee business because I was broke'

Singer Markus Feehily has opened up about his mobile coffee business – revealing people thought he set it up because he needed the money.

Although known for his successful singing career with Westlife, the Sligo native admitted he set up the business out of fun.

“It’s kind of funny, I still get asked about it to this day. People try to make it out as if we’re doing Croke Park one evening and then next I’m taking plastic cups out and selling tea,” he said.

“It was more about me buying a rusty old van and doing it up and getting creative.”

“It wasn’t ‘Jesus I need to make some money, let’s sell tea’,” he told The Nicky Byrne Show on 2fm.

“At the end when fixing the van up, we like it’s too beautiful to leave sitting in the driveway so let’s do something with it for the craic so we did have a bit of a laugh.”

Meanwhile, the Butterfly singer has been busy working on his debut album and revealed he doesn’t mind if people refer to him as Mark.

“It’s so funny between this and the van, little things you say in interviews can really haunt you forever,” he joked.

“Markus has always been my official name, it’s not like I’ve done a JLo on it or anything like that.”

“It’s just like on my album title it’s ‘Markus Feehily Fire’ but I don’t care if people call me Mark, like that’s still what everyone calls me anyway,” he said.
