Keith Duffy's son Jay is sleeping on the streets this Christmas – 'It's tough'

Keith Duffy’s son Jay Duffy has admitted his energy levels are low after the first night of the Belvedere Sleep Out.

The actor is joined by 75 students from the Dublin school – including past and present pupils.

Jay, 18, is sleeping rough for two more nights and admitted he’s finding it tough.

“It’s been tough. The energy levels have definitely decreased since yesterday,” he said.

“We didn’t get to sleep until 3am. There’s a big sense of vulnerability out here.”

Speaking to Eoghan McDermott on 2FM Jay explained the students stayed up late to get as much money as they could for Focus Ireland.

“We woke up at 7am, to tur around and you’re on O’connell Street…it was very bizarre,” he said.

“We were basically waiting for people from nightclubs before we went to sleep, which worked out well, a few lads threw over €2 instead of buying a hamburger.”

The Hollyoaks actor revealed dozens of students are involved, with many taking the buckets of money back to the school and then returning to the streets.

“The Sleep Out is organised by the students so it’s our responsibility to keep the money safe, buckets are going back to the school and it’s being counted and kept safe by the students.”

Yesterday Irish band Kodaline helped Jay and the other students, as they gave a special performance which attracted huge crowds.

“It was fantastic, we can’t thank the lads enough it was really nice to get the support. It is a three day event, hopefully even more people come down today to lift the guys spirits

Yesterday the students received a huge boost when Niall Horan asked his 20 million Twitter followers to donate to the cause.
