The Bray native will step into the ring next year over the St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

Eddie admitted that he was delighted that Katie came to him to work with and believes she can break down the gender barriers in the sport.

“She reminded me about everything that was important about top-level sport and in boxing every day we’re battling with egos and politics and here was someone who showed me the purity of the sport,” he continued at a press conference in Dublin, reported by Independent.ie.

“The fact that it was just about winning and Katie Taylor is obsessed about winning. That is the reality. I believe it’s not about women’s boxing breaking through, it’s about the product breaking through.

“What that means is if you’re entertaining, you’’e entertaining. Doesn’t matter if you’re a man or a woman, it’s irrelevant. She’s going to break down all the barriers.”
